MRK-1: High-Torque Proprietary Connection for Casing Applications
The MRK-1 connection is a proprietary thread design developed to provide a high-torque, cost-effective alternative to standard API casing connections. MRK-1 is engineered for reliable performance in demanding well conditions while maintaining compatibility with existing API systems. At a Glance
MRK-1 is designed as a positional make-up connection that is interchangeable with API Buttress (BTC). It is not weight sensitive and is intended to be run using established casing handling and torque monitoring practices. Detailed torque data sheets and running procedures are available for each size and weight configuration.
Connection Design Overview
The MRK-1 connection was developed to improve torque capacity and operational reliability without introducing unnecessary complexity in the field. It is well-suited for operators looking for enhanced performance while maintaining familiar installation practices. Key design characteristics include:
- High-torque capability compared to standard API connections
- Interchangeability with API BTC connections
- Positional make-up design
- Compatibility with API couplings
- Intended for casing applications in a range of well conditions

Available Sizes and Weights
MRK-1 is available in multiple casing sizes and weight combinations. Each size and weight configuration has its own torque data and performance characteristics.
Currently supported configurations include:
- 5.500" casing
- 7.000" casing
- Multiple weights per size
- P110 grade configurations
Refer to the individual torque data sheets for dimensional properties, mechanical performance, and make-up torque ranges for each configuration.

Operational Considerations
MRK-1 connections should be treated as positional make-up connections and installed in accordance with published running procedures. Proper cleaning, inspection, torque verification, and make-up practices are required to ensure optimal performance.
MRK-1 is designed to be run using torque-turn monitoring equipment and standard casing handling procedures. Operators and service providers should review all applicable documentation prior to running MRK-1 in the field.
